Former President Carter is being admitted to a hospital to relieve pressure in the brain from a fall he had last month. We have you in our prayers for a successful procedure and a speedy recovery!

(1,160 posts)Luck is chancy. I prefer science and a lot of hope (hah!). May Carter be well and build a thousand more homes.

(70,483 posts)Carter has fallen at least three times this year. The first incident, in the spring, required hip replacement surgery. He hit his head falling again on Oct. 6 and received 14 stitches, but still traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, to help build a Habitat for Humanity home shortly thereafter. And he was briefly hospitalized after fracturing his pelvis on Oct. 21.
Carter also received a dire cancer diagnosis in 2015, announcing that melanoma had spread to his liver and brain. He was treated with radiation and immunotherapy, and later said he was cancer-free.
Nearly four decades after his presidency, and despite a body thats failing after 95 years, the nations oldest-ever ex-president still teaches Sunday school roughly twice a month at Maranatha Baptist Church in his tiny hometown of Plains in southwest Georgia. His message is unfailingly about Jesus, not himself.

(1,160 posts)He is an exceptional man. Why he is maligned is befuddling to me. I grew up well after his term, but he always seemed like he was doing good things. As an atheist, I didn't much credit his Sunday School Sermons, but I'm willing to bet they were much in line with my own values.
His falling worries me. Dangerous...I just want him to keep on helping those that need him and advising those of us that trust him.

(3,424 posts)Those who malign him know they could never be a thousandth of the person he is. They are jealous of how much he is truly loved and admired. They can't find wrong in him so they make stuff up.
GET WELL SOON President Carter!

(42 posts)but I'm going to come as close as one possibly can, to ask God to keep loving hands on that man. Although I think we can agree that God speaks more than President Carter than he does through most humans. I just don't want him to suffer of be in any way incapacitated... What a gift to our planet, and to all of our lives, he has been.
