Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsNikki Hailey basically just admitted she ratted out Tillerson and Kelly to Trump
And, if I recall correctly, she had already stated in her book these conversations were 'confidential', not in a professional capacity.
Apparently, she was something of an Iago in this administration...

(16,616 posts)Tillerson left a long time before Kelly did, and under rather different circumstances.
EDIT: Trump had to know Tillerson hated him early on. It was hardly a secret.

(53,410 posts)Which is why people want to know why she didnt do it at the time. Which is a very good question. Why now and not when it happened?

(43,318 posts)if I am wrong, and if she is only NOW doing it, then it is so meaningless
both Kelly and Tillerson have been slamming Rump for ages

(6,974 posts)HOPE she sinks like the big, fat, orange, worthless, treasonous rock that her man tRumputin IS.
Unfortunately, many in the so-called liberal media that never existed (Especially Chris Matthews) is in LOVE with Haley, whose a back-stabbing, lying, worthless POS 🙄

(29,098 posts)Perhaps she could get another chance for election in South Carolina but on the national scale she will be seen as a sycophant and snitch if she did inform Trump about Tillerson and Kelly. Either way she didn't protect him by not giving him the heads up or she ratted out her co workers who were engaging in harmless strategizing. In the long run this will not be a feather in her cap and will give extremely credible ammunitions to anyone who runs agains her. She's toast. And why was it again that she left the UN? I'm sure there is lots there that isn't public....yet.....

(4,461 posts)... exposes all of this - makes no mention of her telling trump. Why would she not include that since it would clearly be an interesting part of the story, right?
Now that people on the right are questioning her loyalty to trump with "why didn't you rat them out, Haley?", she is claiming "...but of course I told trump, yeah, of course, ... that's the ticket...". It smells to me.
And yes, I DO think she is just stupid enough to have not thought about that angle and potential blowback when she wrote the book.

(59,501 posts)yet, Tillerson left in March 2018 and Kelly in December 2018. I think the reason her book does not speak of her telling Trump and getting his reaction is because IT DID NOT HAPPEN.
She is playing to be acceptable to all -- and may end up acceptable to no one if both sides think she is lying about something.

(59,501 posts)Obviously, from context, Kelly and Tillerson had to have attempted to bring her into their intervention when both worked for Trump. Imagine that she went to the man child then - as she basically suggests and told him what they were doing. From all we know about Trump, would he continue to let either one stay in office?
Yet, Trump kicked Tillerson out in March 2018. Kelly left in December 2018.
Note also what Hailey says - that you should quit rather than act against a President you report to. Now, consider any prior President. If anyone in, say, Obama's administration were asked to do something they thought was wrong - and there were TRUMP people who did just that. However, in her telling - she normalizes the Trump Presidency. She herself left after a rather brief time - as the UN ambassador in NYC (not in daily contact) when she could leave without doing anything to tarnish her viability.
She is clearly aiming to be a candidate that the Trump base wants in 2024 - or before if Pence is incriminated.
