Public perception was a major part of the Nixon calculus. With Trump we have the law as the enemy, something to be broken and obliterated. Barr and his Unitary Executive theory really is an attempt to nuke the rule of law.

We had better get this right. I do think it will be a stalemate, but the country will be in an uproar in 2020 all the way to election day. And I do hope we don't debate Trump. Giving him a platform to stalk, sneer, lie, manipulate is just plain crazy.

Nixon resigned when he knew that there were enough votes in the Senate to remove him. Our only hope today is to stir up enough outrage among voters that repub Senators fear for their jobs - the current repub theatrics is obviously aimed at placating those voters.

The HUGE difference is that Senators (Republicans) HAD to at least pretend they cared because the Press/Media all provided the same information to all of the people who watched the news or read the paper.

What we have now is a not insignificant segment of the population who do not get actual facts in their media. Those are the same people who vote Republican. Republicans are beholden to people who have a completely made up version of reality. If they go against Trump then they will not be re-elected unlike Republicans in Nixon's time who could just say, "Well, you see what he did. I have no choice".

future indictments.

This was years in the making before 2016, and it will take years to clean up. Hopefully, we'll live to see it end well.

This meme isn't accurate about Trump since the law -- taxes, emoluments, administration indictments, etc. -- will have to catch up with him later.

But it does put numbers to our history with these miserable Republicans, I hope.
