'No truth whatsoever': Nikki Haley denies rumors that she's gunning for Pence's position
Nikki Haley dismissed rumors that her book tour is a thinly veiled vice-presidential bid to replace Mike Pence on President Trump’s 2020 ticket.
On Tuesday, former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt suggested that Haley had written her book as an attempt to bump Pence from his position. During an interview on Fox News, Haley denied that she was seeking the vice presidency and said that Pence and Trump make a “solid” ticket.
“I will tell you, it’s amazing how this vice president stuff still keeps coming up,” Haley said. “The vice president and the president are a great ticket together. They’re solid. Solid enough that they’re going to win together.”
She claimed there is “no truth whatsoever” that she is trying to nudge Pence out of the door. She added, “I think Mike is great for the job and I think that he’s the right partner for the president.”
