Schiff called Republicans a "cult of the president " today

Good interview on NPR

We can't let one party that has allowed itself to become a cult of the president to dictate whether a constitutional remedy can be employed.
I would hope, if not members of the House, then members of the Senate will put their party aside, will look to their constitutional duty and oath and ask themselves the question, if it comes to this — and again, we haven't prejudged whether it's going to come to this. But if it does come to a trial in the Senate, I hope they will be prepared to ask themselves the question: Are we prepared to accept that a president of the United States can withhold taxpayer funds, deprive an ally of the ability to defend itself, withhold official acts like a White House meeting with a foreign leader and do so in order to get help in a presidential election? Can a president of the United States obstruct Congress? Refuse to allow witnesses to appear, refuse to provide documents? Are we prepared to fundamentally alter our conception of the presidency itself? These are the tough questions that members on both sides of the aisle are going to have to ask.

Rep. Schiff's speech...My colleagues might think it’s OK,” Schiff said. “...but I don’t think it’s OK. I think it’s immoral, I think it’s unethical, I think it’s unpatriotic and yes, I think it’s corrupt.”

Real Americans support you Rep. Schiff!

I wasn't sure how to post the video.

I know the republicans are corrupt cowards, but with leaders like Adam Schiff, among others, who have integrity and a belief in the rule of law gives me hope. Even if the Senate doesn't convict trump's sorry ass, there will be a record of the repubs cowardess and disregard for the constitution. All of the things they have claimed to stand for all these years will prove to be a farce. The mask will melt away. The only thing they believe in is their own power.

Don't let Republicans off the hook. They are in on it, not merely spellbound to a cult leader. Trump is doing what they want.

The Republicans already know that Democrats would never countenance a rogue and corrupt leader to remain in office for purely partisan reasons. It's not in our DNA. We self-regulate, sometimes (Franken) to the point of martyrdom.

No sir, the Republicans have no such moral code hard-wired in their psyches. They live to win and crush and silence their foes. They know no rules. They would impeach a Democratic Donald Trump but never a Republican Trump.

I salute us as we nobly move forward to do this the proper way, the constitutional and American way, like a criminal trial and not a political one, but the judge and jury in this case is infested with the corrosive influence of neo-fascism. I have no faith in their ability to rise up to protect democracy, as democracy is precisely their chief target in this coup.
