It's the first one in Congress in over 20 years and will allow the American public to hear the evidence for themselves.
The hearing is set to start at 10 a.m. Wednesday. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., will make an opening statement, followed by an opening statement by the ranking Republican on the committee, Rep. Devin Nunes of California, and then statements from the two witnesses.
The witnesses testifying Wednesday are Bill Taylor, the Trump administration's top diplomat in Ukraine, and George Kent, deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs.
NBC News will air a special report at 10 a.m. ET led by "NBC Nightly News anchor" Lester Holt, NBC News chief legal correspondent Savannah Guthrie and NBC News political director Chuck Todd. MSNBC will anchor special coverage hosted by "The 11th Hour" host Brian Williams and "Deadline: White House" host Nicolle Wallace.
The hearings will be streamed live on NBC News NOW, NBCNews.com and MSNBC.com. NBCnews.com will also feature a live blog with contributors from across NBC News with news, fact checks and analysis. The coverage will be collected at NBCNews.com/impeachment.

(18,837 posts)They just showed a clip on MSNBC of Republican Senators being asked if they planned to watch the hearings. All of the responses were curt and / or sarcastic.
I personally think the ultimate jury will be American voters in 2020 (and yes, I'm factoring in gerrymandering and other GOP dirty tricks, interference from Russia and elsewhere, social media bots, and the fact that if he MAKES it to the election, Trump WILL contest any defeat that isn't a landslide, and even if it IS, he'll contest that as well).
Trump got cocky after Barr's "full exoneration" four page whitewash.
Then he pulled THIS bonehead stunt.
Maybe the process will rattle him enough that he makes another. That summons images of the metaphor that was also shared on MSNBC...a kid turned loose in the air traffic controller's tower, pressing all the buttons and bouncing off the walls. I don't make light of that...he could cause some SERIOUS damage...and yes, I made it through Fitzmas and Mueller time...but this has to happen. Regardless of the outcome, this has to happen.
