DC Circuit rejects Trump's request for full panel review of the order to turn over 8 years of taxes

After a three-judge panel ruled 2-1 that Trump must turn over his taxes to Congress, Trump's attorneys moved for a rehearing en banc - by all of the active judges on the Circuit Court. Today, the Court said no, they would not review the decision.

Now Trump's only recourse is to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Congress can seek eight years of President Trump’s tax records, according to a federal appeals court order Wednesday that moves the separation-of-powers conflict one step closer to the Supreme Court.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit let stand an earlier ruling against the president that affirmed Congress’s investigative authority on a day when the House was holding its first public impeachment inquiry hearing.

Trump’s lawyers have said they are prepared to ask the Supreme Court to intervene in this case and in several other legal battles between the president and Congress.

The D.C. Circuit was responding Wednesday to Trump’s request to have a full panel of judges rehear a three-judge decision from October that rejected the president’s request to block lawmakers from subpoenaing his longtime accounting firm.

His taxes may reveal that he's not worth even a quarter of what he claims he's worth. He will be exposed a la the emperor's new clothes fable.

They don't include the value for any item that was not part of a transaction for that year. So if some real estate or securities or share of a business was not bought or sold in a given year, it does not show up in a tax return. Nor do any possessions that may be part of net worth (unless they are being depreciated)B. Bank balances (cash on hand) may be able to be estimated based on declared interest earned, though.

The tax returns may show something embarrassing or even incriminating... but whatever it is, it probably has little relation to net worth.

One issue could be that his declared income on the tax returns might not match his declared income on loan applications. Lying (or falsifying records) on either one of those things is a crime, so if the numbers don't match, he can be in legal jeopardy regardless of which docs are right (if any) and which are wrong.

Income Tax returns deliver a snapshot of revenue for the fiscal year....but doesn't really address off-book real estate deals. Debt service shoulkd show up on the returns, but even that can be masked (ie, an agreement that allows a final pay-down sometime in the future).

Personally, I think the Russians have a huge financial position on Trump and he's in too far to the Putin mob to do anything but go along with their political demands. I doubt that will show up on tax returns, but I look forward to the tax experts (RK Johnson?(sp)) who may devine some relevant clues from the the financial data.

So far, every Trump action benefits Putin and weakens US strategic interests. I predict that this behavior of pro-Putin EO's and edicts out of the WH will continue until he is removed.

With RGB's health in decline, giving Trump/McConnell control of the next seat on SCOTUS will be a defining moment for this country. Democrats really need to address the Republican takeover of the judiciary and figure a way to counteract that unfair advantage going forward.

We absolutely need to take the Senate and Presidency in 2020....if we want to survive as a nation. The fools who support Trump think this is a personalty," my team vs. your team" driven politics. They are clueless about the worldwide implications of allowing Donald Trump to deliver the US to the Putin Organized Crime Party. He's doing it now.

...on behalf of the House Oversight Committee asking Mazars for information on Trump's federal returns.

The opinion from earlier today was for the subpoena issued by a NYS Grand Jury at the request of Manhattan D.A. Vance, for information on his NYS returns and other matters not yet disclosed.

Double-barreled dismissals!

Has Trump threatened the accounting firm yet? They're going to follow the court's directions, since CPA work papers are not privileged (except under certain circumstances that don't apply here).
