[The Root, AnneBranigin 11/14/19]
"Massachusetts Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley introduced on Thursday a comprehensive criminal justice resolution package that would massively restructure Americas legal systemand fundamentally reshape the role prisons and jails play in American life.
Titled the the Peoples Justice Guarantee, the resolution is a progressive vision of justice that is being touted as the most progressive and comprehensive plan for overhauling the criminal legal system by a member of Congress, according to a press release. On top of dozens of legislative proposals, Pressleys resolution looks to undo decades of policies that have created a mass incarceration crisis.
"The criminal legal system is racist, xenophobic, rogue, and fundamentally flawed beyond reform, the congresswoman told reporters on a Wednesday call. It must be dismantled and radically transformed through a large-scale decarceration effort.

WHEN we get power, our caucuses in both chambers will agree on what they want to pass, and then both versions will go through the reconciliation process to create one bill, or very possibly a series of related bills, that will be passed into law.
In the meantime, she has to get reelected next November 3 in order to continue to be one of our legislators, so I hope this works well for her.
