(6,420 posts)I was so angry at the "shooter." I keep wondering if anyone saw signs leading up to this or knew the kid needed help, and could have somehow helped prevent this. It's just a terrible situation, all around. This is supposed to be one of the safest cities in the country, and I already realized it's not safe anywhere - now that feeling is cemented. It's disgusting the way half of this country just accepts this kind of violence and chalks it up as a necessary reality while blocking any efforts to curb the amount of gun violence.
Lastly, I'm very saddened for all the kids who had to go through that, and the families/friends of those injured and killed. And, of course, i'm worried about my own kids, who are going to be scared by all this and will eventually end up attending Saugus High.

(1,846 posts)My 23 year old son told me a few years back they had "active shooting drills" in school the whole time he was growing up.
I had no idea. We had bomb drills when I was in school near the end of the cold war.
Republicans and their NRA friends need to go.
We'll get there eventually.
I totally empathize with your worries.
I had some worries but these days these incidents are so much more frequent it's kinda terrifying.
