Unemployment? Underemployment? How about this metric...

Total wages paid in a week.

If someone gets fired it goes down. If someone stays employed but gets a pay cut it goes down.

If an employed person is cut from 40 hours to 35 hours it goes down.

When someone loses a $22/hr job and takes an $9/hr job it goes down.

When somebody unemployed gets a job, or someone employed gets a raise, or someone moves from part-time to full-time it goes up.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
