(73,537 posts)Democrats are doing. And I have great respect for the witnesses thus far. At the same time, I do resent that such a group of mobsters were able to infect our institutions.
A childhood friend (an former Marine) just left. He was so angry watching the hearing. So I recognize that we all process it in an individual way.

H2O Man
(73,537 posts)been trying to bury democracy. They've been doing so for a long time, with an increasingly dangerous pace in the Trump era. The Democrats are pulling democracy out of the grave the republicans have dug, and the public is learning that democracy still has a heart-beat.
nolabear
(41,960 posts)Im proud of our patriots and the fact theyre opposing this authoritarian attempt at destroying everything weve worked for as a country.
H2O Man
(73,537 posts)It is not pleasant to watch the republicans fighting against the Constitution -- and that is exactly what they are doing. They are dangerous, for sure. And the international mob, of which Trump is part of, posing serious threats to democracy, and to those individuals who dare challenge them. That part is definitely sobering.
Yet, we are stronger than them. And we ar engaged in the effort to expose their crimes, and hold them reponsible. The rule of law will prevail.

She is testifying on live television and the president of her own country sends a tweet that reads like he's a mob boss.
I feel like I swallowed a brick. At the same time Im so grateful to have this put in the open.
Scared, depressed, and hopeful at the same time.
H2O Man
(73,537 posts)You have summed it up perfectly.
The Trump mob wanted to silence her. And their associates would have killed her, if she hadn't been recalled from her position. But it has back-fired, as now she can speak on a much larger stage.

(11,343 posts)It was an explosive moment that will likely get more people to watch....just in time for the gop shitshow.
We can expect the republican machine to be coordinating with the beast -- and Trump is the beast. They had a bad day on Wednesday, and will thus bring everything they've got to the fight to distract, disrupt, and threaten today. And I'm aware that they are dangerous .....to individuals, and the country.
I have the greatest respect for this lady. She knows all this, but still is confronting their evil.
