1. As I recall, he's not running for re-election

Kind of take some of the 'pressure' off of his need to be an a$$hole.

And the House GOP will lose their last black Republican.

He can start out sounding like a reasonable person and then suddenly shift to behaving like a hack. He often seems like a man who isn't sure who he wants to be.

3. He is not running for re-election but he does seem at times to be more of an actual moderate

But he can also flip at times to sound like a nut.

In San Antonio he does buddy up more with Joaquin Castro at events vs the other Republican Rep Chip Roy (who is more like Trump and an awful human).

5. He wants to lead a real life

after Trump.

Mr. Hurd is a serious man. I do not agree with him on a lot of issues. But he is the only serious republican we see in the House today -- which is exactly why he is not running for re-election, as others here have noted.

7. He was less offensive than Jordan...but he screwed up in not realizing that she had left the country

and had no way to be sure who talked to Ghouliani...I thought he looked bad and did not recover after that...limped along.
