to give him a pardon or keep their word(s).

And even if there WERE a supposedly ironclad legal agreement for the same... do you really think he would trust that either?

Not when you're the president of the united states and your post service compensation is designated by law.

will come up with some new "Can't indite a president before his term of office WOULD have expired" or some such rot. Or claim that he can pardon himself.

Even if he survives impeachment, he'll resign on January 19, 2021, so pence has one day to pardon him and a bunch of other crooks.

(The following assumes that Trump was not reelected.) I see no reason for Pence to be a Trump lover. He has no reason to tarnish what little reputation he has left by using his one day presidency to let Trump and others off the hook. This leads to an interesting question. What would he do if Trump resigns after the election, but before his term is completed? What would you (anyone is welcome to respond) do?

1. Take the office and pardon Trump.
2. Take the office (so that it's not unoccupied) and show Trump your middle finger.
3. Refuse to take the oath and leave the courts to determine whether the country has a president.
4. Resign and let Nancy Pelosi become the president for the remainder of Trump's term.

The Republican Party can't stand suffering through months and months of Donnie criminality in the courts, trials for many republicans, more embarrassment that they stood by these crooks.

Reputation? Some billionaire will pay him plenty enough to not care about that.
