Mardi Gras. Crawfish season. Sipping coffee and chicory with your fingers dusted with the powdered sugar from the beignets you just wolfed down. Drinking Dixie beer, fishing for catfish in the bayou with good friends. Seeing a snow white egret flash across a dark gray sky that's about to burst open with sheets of rain.

Need I go on?

I only lived in New Orleans for 5 years about 40 years ago, but they were my formative teen years. The sights, smells and tastes will never leave my heart.

Note: Rockin' Sidney wrote the song and taught it to Fogerty; he's the dude playing the accordion. I wish I knew who the sax player was.
