It just feels like Barr is right in Epstein's client demographic.

The school, which had been a progressive haven for the children of artists and writers, was undergoing a shift under a new headmaster. Donald Barr, the father of Attorney General William Barr, came in as a disciplinarian focused on beefing up the academics of the school, and on enforcing a strict code of conduct.
In a school known for creativity, administrators had prohibited denim jeans and bizarre and eccentric costumes. If Mr. Barr caught students using marijuana, he would often send them to therapy as a condition of staying in the school. He himself described his leadership style as by ukase, using the Imperial Russian term for an edict from the czar.
[snip]
Barr didnt care about credentials as long as you were interesting and knew your stuff, Ms. Semel said.
In February 1974, Mr. Barr had announced that he was resigning as headmaster, protesting the meddling by the board of trustees, but that he would stay on until the end of the school year. It is unclear whether Mr. Barr hired Mr. Epstein during that time.

Note: what's unclear re: Barr/Epstein is the timing of Barr hiring Epstein, not the fact that Barr did hire Epstein.
Epstein, a college drop out (when that usually mattered), was a physics/math teacher in the mid-70's. He was ultimately dismissed post -Barr's tenure.
Was remembered for showing up at student parties on weekends and the attention he paid younger girls in the hallways. (although it's unclear if these memories are through the lens of his notoriety as a pimp to the rich and famous).
Lastly, it is just a little weirdly coincidental that Barr's dad used a Russian phrase to describe himself. Coincidental I'm sure but says something about the home that Barr grew up in.

"He resigned over disagreements about his authoritarian discipline."
It's getting more clear what attracts Wm. Barr to Opus Dei.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opus_Dei
[snip]
Opus Dei has been described as the most controversial force within the Catholic Church, especially as a result of their close ties with the fascist Franco regime in Spain during his rule from 1936 to 1975. Defenders of the organization argue that many of the negative claims about Opus Dei are either unproven or fabrications.
[snip]
As a spirituality for ordinary people, Opus Dei focuses on performing sacrifices pertaining to normal duties and to its emphasis on charity and cheerfulness. Additionally, Opus Dei celibate members practice "corporal mortifications" such as sleeping without a pillow or sleeping on the floor, fasting, and remaining silent for certain hours during the day.
_________
Two learnings for me from this little sunday morning rabbit hole:
1) O/D connection with fascism - maturing as a sect in Franco's Spain.
2) Formally recognized by Pius XII, who managed to stay silent on Hitler's atrocities throughout WWII.

The Ties That Bind Jeffrey Epstein, William Barr & Donald Trump
Todd Neikirk
Hill Reporter, May 19, 2019
During Attorney General, William Barrs confirmation hearing, he was mostly peppered with questions about how he would handle the Mueller Report. Senator Ben Sasses (R-NE) questioning, however, diverged from the pack. Sasse asked Barr about the lenient sentence given out to billionaire pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. The future Attorney General told Sasse that he would look into the matter.
This, however, was not the first connection between Barr and his family and the disgraced pedophile. In 1973, Barrs father Donald, the headmaster at Manhattans Dalton School, hired Epstein as a calculus and physics teacher.
While hiring Epstein, a noted mathematics genius, was not strange on its face, the hire was unusual for a number of reasons. Epstein had not earned a college degree as he dropped out of New Yorks prestigious Cooper Union. The other odd circumstance was that the new teacher was only 20 years of age.
Apparently, the hire was a successful one. The New Yorker wrote in a 2003 profile on Epstein, he was something of a Robin WilliamsinDead Poets Society type of figure, wowing his high-school classes with passionate mathematical riffs. Epsteins mathematical skills caught the eye of Bear Stearns chairman, Alan Ace Greenberg, whose son attended the Dalton School. Greenberg hired Epstein as an options trader and the former teacher was able to amass a fortune.

Barr Sr mustve seen a potential, uh, asset. Otherwise, theres no logical rationale for the hire.
ETA: I have yet to hear a major media outlet print or broadcast bring Barr Sr hiring Epstein to the nations attention.

EPSTEIN DEATH: DEEP DIGGING NOT WELCOME IN CORPORATE MEDIA
by Russ Baker

Excerpt...
Although establishment media usually ignore or ridicule non-traditional media when the latter ask questions that dont conform to a pro-system bias, they have a tougher time when it is one of their own breaking ranks.
Thats what the Washington Post did. It began with a tweet from reporter Carol Leonnig:
People close to Epstein fear he was murdered as Epstein told authorities someone tried to kill him in a previous incident weeks earlier. He was described as being in good spirits in recent days https://t.co/J9QNSo1N2v
Carol Leonnig (@CarolLeonnig) August 10, 2019
In a follow-up tweet the same day, Leonnig reminded readers:
Remember previous incident July 23: it was never cleared up whether Epstein had been attacked, as he said, or if he was covering up his own suicide attempt https://t.co/G7smVLAZqc
Carol Leonnig (@CarolLeonnig) August 10, 2019
In a rare display, we saw other major news organizations take the Post to task. For instance, Rolling Stone. This progressive journal quoted Tim Gleason a professor of journalism and director of the Payne Awards for Ethics in Journalism at the University of Oregon who said I dont know why she would have tweeted this what was she thinking? Its hard not to read that and think she is suggesting something else happened.
Something else. As if something else was clearly out of the question.
