What would Putin do?

Lots of speculation about Trump resigning for health reasons. Sounds good for Trump, but what about Vlad? Will he just accept the loss of his asset?

Trump is so under his thumb, I am sure he would have to ask Vlad for permission to resign.

friends don't care about anyone else but themselves, and the average Russian person on the streets of Moscow believes this too. I suspect knowing Putin, he's got more pokers in the fire than just rump, e.g., tulsi gabbard (imho), stefanik, and others, etc. Being a former KGB operative/director, I wouldn't be surprised and if anything, they probably knew the durability of this asset is rather limited (rump) due to his terrible health habits.

Syria debacle, if you step back there may have been a kernel of truth to it, timing wise. As soon as they realized Impeachment was beginning, it was time to cash in on Putin's wishlist.
OTOH Russians are notoriously good at the long game, unlike us impatient Americans.
So that could have been just the beginning.
