Garry Kasparov: Trump's behavior is disgustingly corrupt and impeachable

This is a powerful piece by an incredibly intelligent person.
The truth in front of our noses: Donald Trumpís behavior is disgustingly corrupt and impeachable, whatever his defenders do or say

It was foolish to hope that Donald Trump would be cowed into better behavior by the start of impeachment hearings last Wednesday. His type never admits wrongdoing, never apologizes, never changes for the better. Instead, they smear their accusers, attack the witnesses, and cause as much chaos as possible to distract from the growing pile of evidence against them.

Along the way, they drag their supporters down to their level, obliging them to twist the truth and contort their morals to defend the indefensible.

Thanks to the live feed of the hearings from the Longworth House Office Building, those with strong stomachs can watch this performative debasement in real-time. Just listen to the Republican congressmen during the hearings as they reel off denials, fabrications and distractions while never attempting to refute the core of the allegations against their master.

And how could they, since Trumpís lawyers, officials and Trump himself have already admitted to it all?

There is no limit to the possible number of lies and only one truth, so itís easy for the facts to be lost in the rising tide of falsehoods. Instead of falling into the trap of refuting every conspiracy theory and slander, the best remedy is to keep repeating the truth, as often as necessary, like taking a medicine.

1. Kasparov has been able to watch the dissolution of the USSR and the resurgence of the apparatchiks

from a unique position.

Kasparov's website was blocked by the Russian federative regulator, Roskomnadzor, at the behest of the public prosecutor, allegedly due to Kasparov's opinions of the Crimean crisis. Kasparov's block was made in unison with several other notable Russian sites that were accused of inciting public outrage. Reportedly, several of the blocked sites received an affidavit noting their violations. However, Kasparov stated that his site had received no such notice of violations after its block.[118]

In October 2015, Kasparov published a book titled Winter Is Coming: Why Vladimir Putin and the Enemies of the Free World Must Be Stopped. In the book, Kasparov likens Putin to Hitler, and explains the need for the west to oppose Putin sooner, rather than appeasing him and postponing the eventual confrontation. According to his publisher, "Kasparov wants this book out fast, in a way that has potential to influence the discussion during the primary season."[119][120]

In the 2016 United States presidential election, Kasparov described Republican front-runner Donald Trump as "a celebrity showman with racist leanings and authoritarian tendencies",[121] and criticised Trump for calling for closer ties with Vladimir Putin,[122] and responded to Trump's running mate, Mike Pence, calling Putin a strong leader, that Putin is a strong leader "in the same way arsenic is a strong drink".[123] He also criticised the economic policies of Democratic primary candidate Bernie Sanders, but showed respect for Sanders as "a charismatic speaker and a passionate believer in his cause".[124]
