Donald Trump to honor Jon Voight with prestigious National Medal of Arts after actor hailed him as 'the greatest president of this century'

Actor Jon Voight, 80, is one of a group of artists and philanthropists being honored by the president for their contributions to the arts or the humanities

Voight is one of Trump's few Hollywood backers and in August hailed him as 'the greatest president of this century' in a video where he slammed the 'radical left'

He is one of four who will receive the National Medal of Arts, along with musician Alison Krauss, Sharon Percy Rockefeller, and the musicians of the U.S. military

Writer James Patterson is one of four to receive the National Humanities Medal
Trump will award the medals during a ceremony at the White House on Thursday
While the honors had been an annual affair during past administrations, they have not been awarded since Trump´s inauguration in January 2017

For a little more groveling, Jon Voight can get his face cast in concrete and displayed at Trump Tower Moscow.

5. Robert De Niro, 10/10/2016: "Voight is a nice guy, but he's delusional."

Although I wouldn’t expect any less, DeNiro clearly was aware (no doubt long before 2016) of how destructive a Trump presidency would be.

De Niro responded to Voight’s comments, saying: “Voight is a nice guy, but he’s delusional,” according to UAE newspaper the Khaleej Times, before continuing to attack Trump.

“The Republican party has rationalised that his guy is sane, that this guy should be president,” he said. “It’s awful, they will self-destruct.”

De Niro urged Americans to vote on 8 November in order to prevent Trump from winning. “They have to vote, they must vote, it’s imperative that you vote, it’s a very serious situation,” he said.

“Everybody has to be vigilant to make sure that this guy does not become president. Let’s not win by a margin, let’s make sure he’s crushed … because he represents so many horrible things.”
