And Kudos to the Marine, even tho he is not looking for it.

(2,270 posts)And a standing ovation to this brave Marine. As a veteran myself I have and will continue to use words like this whenever I am forced into debating the "bravery and manliness" of private bonespurs. I usually get to it faster though I must admit. More along the lines of , "Hell ya! I get thanked for my service .. when did YOU serve and where so I can thank you for yours". I always add the "where" because of a co-worker for a time tried claiming to be a ex-Marine on a Memorial day function we were working when I KNEW he had never served. I stood right next to him and informed everyone who stopped by that this guy was a liar and a fraud before they gave him money. He quit that day and I got fired the next for harassment. (He was a good salesman I must admit)

The law amends the federal criminal code to make it a crime for a person to claim they have served in the military.

(10,039 posts)for the general DU populace and not the OP specifically. What's the logic behind posting a screen-cap of text? I see this quite a bit along with posting the same tweet 3-5x in the same OP. Why aren't these posted as block-quoted excerpts with a link to the original content? That way I can go have a look at it myself? Is this a posting from a mobile device thing? Is it a paywall/registration issue? What am I missing?

And even when it does originate with them, the image with names obscured is less privacy-impinging than providing a link, for both the poster and other persons involved.
Although, in this case, the person who obscured the names could have done a better job.

From Military News:
...
Pentagon leaders privately had expressed reservations about the moves, but Defense Secretary Mark Esper has declined comment on the rumored actions in recent days.
Last week, he said that he had a robust conversation with Trump about the proposed pardons and clemency and that I do have full confidence in the military justice system and well let things play out as they play out.
I suspect this Marine understands the need for discipline, something sadly lacking in the Cadets upbringing.

Mind you, it's hard for a retired Army guy to say nice things about the Marines. But, when a Marine is right, s/he's right.
