About Time-Breaking on CNN: "HOUSE NOW INVESTIGATING WHETHER TRUMP LIED TO MUELLER"

Washington (CNN)The House of Representatives is now investigating whether President Donald Trump lied to special counsel Robert Mueller in written answers he provided in the Russia investigation, the House's general counsel said in federal court Monday.

"Did the President lie? Was the President not truthful in his responses to the Mueller investigation?" House general counsel Douglas Letter told the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit about why the House now needs access to grand jury material Mueller collected in his investigation.

Lawyers for the House suggested in a previous court filing that the grand jury material from Robert Mueller’s investigation could help them determine whether Trump was truthful in his answers to the special counsel.

“Not only could those materials demonstrate the president’s motives for obstructing the special counsel’s investigation, they also could reveal that Trump was aware of his campaign’s contacts with WikiLeaks,” the lawyer’s wrote in the late September filing.

They added, “Those materials therefore have direct bearing on whether the president was untruthful, and further obstructed the special counsel’s investigation, when in providing written responses to the special counsel’s questions he denied being aware of any communications between his campaign and WikiLeaks.”

back-peddling on a liberalized vaping measure he said he was for, until he did a 180 on it. And John King and Dr. Gupta both expressed varying degrees of surprise.

For Pete’s sake, where have they been for the past three years? Down inside a concrete isolation bunker somewhere? Asleep? They’re just realizing it’s only Lucy with the football, promising faithfully and vehemently to Charlie Brown that she’d hold it nice ‘n’ steady so he could run up and kick it. And for the 1052nd time, she yanks the football away a split-second before he reaches kicking position. And he goes down hard, flat on his back with a big SPLAT!!! Again. For the 1052nd time. Suckered AGAIN. And she chuckles “what an idiot!”

There’s also the old saw about the fox and the scorpion and the river. They both want to cross the river. The scorpion asks the fox for a ride on his back so they both can get across. Fox says “are you kidding? You’ll sting me and I’ll drown!” Scorpion says “are YOU kidding? Why on earth would I do that? I’d drown too!” So Fox thinks about it, decides that makes sense so he’ll do it. Scorpion climbs on Fox’s back and Fox starts swimming across the river. They get about halfway and guess what happens? Scorpion up ‘n’ stings Fox. And as Fox is going down, sinking toward a watery grave, he gasps “WHY’D you sting me????” Scorpion, yes, going down too, says “I’m a Scorpion. That’s what I do.”

That’s trump, too. Pompeo, for example, is in the Fox position at the moment.

trump is Lucy with the football. trump is the Scorpion. And you’d think AT LEAST BY NOW, most of the media would show that they get this. At LEAST by now! After all, this didn’t start yesterday and he wasn’t born yesterday, and they weren’t born yesterday - or so one would hope.

This has bothered me for a long time, regarding him especially. This is who and what trump is and what he’s always been: a died-in-the-wool congenital pathological liar. And cheat. And bullshit artist.

I get how news anchors as reporters want to curry favor with political and community leaders, accomplished experts, the rich ‘n’ famous, VIPs of all kinds. I get that. “Access” is the secret word - AND a near-sacred word by now, too. They can become important sources, especially in the political world. And you DON’T want to burn a source. Why? Cuz you’ll lose that all-important ACCESS.

And there’s also the objectivity thing - another cannon sacred to news people and organizations everywhere. And having been a practitioner in that world, I get that. Objectivity is the altar at which you kneel. You show any bias and you’re thus regarded as biased. Your credibility and trustworthiness as a news & information broker are frankly all you have.

But trump turns all that on its head. YES, sure, when he explodes onto the scene and becomes a candidate, and even through his first year, okay, give him the benefit of the doubt as you would to any rookie. But For Pete’s Sake, we’re in Year THREE of this White House horror show, and BY NOW, surely everything we’ve witnessed has taught us that this guy no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt. Haven’t we seen enough manifestations of his deceitful miscreant behavior to realize just exactly who and what we’re dealing with? Have we learned nothing? Everything still has to start from zero, free of context and unfettered by well-documented track record? By now, I’d vote NO.

And now, of course, we’ve got a whole willfully-biased media landscape created to slant and distort for the unsuspecting masses. But that’s a whole other story.

and despite having the best memory in world history, he immediately forgets about wanting to commit the crimes.

He then tells everybody under him and around him to commit the crimes, then forgets he told them. He then remembers he told them he wants the crimes committed, and follows up with them to demand progress reports on the crimes he wants committed.

Then he immediately forgets that he followed up with demands for progress reports. Then he demands the proceeds from the crimes he wanted committed, then he immediately forgets all about it after he receives the proceeds. Then he forgets he knows all the people under him and around him who he ordered to commit the crimes. He doesn't know them at all, and can't remember even meeting them.

Then he's questioned about it, and says he has no memory of any of it. Then he remembers to check on the proceeds of the crimes to make sure they're still there. Then he swears under oath that he can't remember.
