President Donald Trump will travel to Austin on Wednesday to tour an Apple Inc. manufacturing plant and tout the company’s recent expansion in Central Texas, a White House official told the American-Statesman on Saturday.

Trump, Apple CEO Tim Cook and senior administration officials on Wednesday will hear from employees about how the products are assembled at the Austin facility, the White House official said.

Apple announced in September it would keep manufacturing its Mac Pro computers in Austin, after it received exemptions from some proposed federal tariffs.

The Mac Pro has been manufactured in the Flextronics Americas factory in Northwest Austin, which Cook confirmed in 2013.

In June, the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple planned to move Mac Pro manufacturing to China. The newspaper cited a number of challenges, including declining demand and manufacturing capacity.

Trump will travel to Austin with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Director of the National Economic Council Larry Kudlow, son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump.

That release was from Saturday, right?

And really... who travels like this with adult children... and who watches the Kushner children? It's like they leave babies to babysit an old man.

My public service to fellow DU members to stay the hell away from the traffic jam that goes with those visits.

Gonna see if I can clear my schedule, so I can go and give them a proper GTFO wave of a protest sign.

It’s so gross that he tours a company like he owns the place or is somehow responsible for their success. Is nearly the opposite, uprooting supply chains and whipping up uncertainty seemingly on whims.

Will the plant meet his approval? Bleh.

Can’t they turn him down? No, because he’d tweet nasty things about them. Seems like he could be a gawd awful IP security risk...

Maybe he should just stay close to Walter Reed? Then I’d not feel violated by his intrusion into my backyard. I mean, seriously, can’t he go to some taffy factory in Florida if he needs to get out of the house?
