He has military experience, speaks the languages fluently, and was born in Ukraine (when it was part of the U.S.S.R.) although he and his brother were toddlers when their family left to come to the U.S., so he really has no association outside of his family and any postings there.

But as a note - whether it is a foreign country or a domestic company - government employees often get solicitations to come work for other entities (anyone who does "field work" gets these offers pretty frequently). The federal government has a process to report such offers and he did so!

the #TraitorGOP isn't even trying to hide the fact they don't have any defense. All they want is to:

name the whistleblower (akin to publicly naming a person who pulled a fire alarm when seeing a burning building)

ramble on meaninglessly over unrelated matters (to bore viewers to get them to tune out?)

It's more like publicly naming someone who called the police to report they had been told a drug cartel was operating out of a house across the street, here are the names of some people who have been in and out of the house you might want to talk to, and from their experience living in the neighborhood for many years, the behavior over there does look awfully suspicious. Thereby triggering an investigation.

In other words, there is no reason whatsoever to reveal the identity of the whistleblower even if it wasn't against the law to do so. But the identity becoming known could put that person at risk of retaliation.

Lawyers identify the legal terms. These witnesses are too smart to loosely use legal terms.

That’s the job for non-lawyers like me on DU.

In any case these hearings are to expose the facts. The judicial committee will lay out the charges.

I wonder if Nadler will limit those hearings to deciding the articles of impeachment and prevent attempts to drag in new evidence.
