but I know the first person subject is "I", not "me". Even when paired with a third person subject, or in this case, subjects. It's still "I". Always "I". NEVER "me". And certainly never " myself". Just good old "I". That's "I", as in "I"

"...and my officers..." is the dependent clause. If you remove the dependent clause, and what remains doesn't make sense, then the sentence is grammatically incorrect. "My officers and I" would have been the right way to word it.
