(51,627 posts)I hope you get tons of snow and a deep snowpack. We have had a normal amount for a few years after a severe drought.

(13,364 posts)They said we got enough water for 3 years...
But it has definitely been a long dry summer and fall. 😔
I am torn. I hate dealing with snow, but I also know it is crucial for so many others...

(33,643 posts)even DARK out!?! Now at midnight it's all the way down to 58F ... obviously it's like some crazy polar vortex we got going down here
My shorts, flip flops, and t-shirt were BARELY enough to let me stay outside for a vape without a slight shiver ... had to go inside and put on my warm slippers just to finish up ...

(51,627 posts)It was 90° and 88° over the past few days. I'm still getting eaten alive by mosquitoes (they are biting everyone's legs in Southern CA this year and not just me).

(15,373 posts)from the year (Aug 78-Aug 79) that I lived there.
I first saw the Salt River in Sep 78 and remember the wide bridge we crossed to see barely a trickle of water beneath.
A few months later, the area was completely flooded. That was really impressive, although it was unfortunate for those poor fools who lived in the floodplain.

I don't know whether people in Phoenix still have lawns instead of using the local flora in their yards. But in that era there were still some. Some of those apparently used underground lawn irrigation systems rather than movable sprinklers.
When we were still new to the area, I remember my young sons announcing to me one morning that it had apparently rained overnight, but only on the lawns, LOL!

(33,643 posts)But we only had 1 show up this last season (seen as many as 7 or 8 decent storms in past years) and it wasn't even a very good one.
I have a lawn in my backyard with sprinklers mounted in the ground but only cause it was here when I bought the place. It's not big, maybe 15x30 ft.
Still a decent number of people w/front lawns but I'd guess they're less common than they were.

Enjoy and please help to elect Mark Kelly for the Senate seat!
