I remember when Butter Emails was such a scandal because some people viewed it as a way to hide Clintons communications as SoS from the public record, but here you have an App specifically designed to keep zero records of any communications. That cant be legal for our elected/appointed officials to be using a system that hides their conversations from the public record.
Unless its security related, the people have the right to know what our government is doing on their behalf. WhatsAp is not OK in that pursuit.

(23,825 posts)Probably similar to using a private email server, not technically illegal, but clearly against government guidelines and policies.

(25,208 posts)I work for a defense contractor and one of our contracts does require TS clearance. (top secret)
We would be crucified by our USAF security liaison if he found out we used that to communicate about any aspect of the contract.
