Truthfully I only see 3 or 4 GOP Senators that would vote against him.

Collins, Murkowski and Romney. And maybe one or two long timers who might. There are 3 Senators not running again, but I wouldn't count on them either.
The rest are too far gone to turn on Trump.

So 3 defections means a 50-50 tie.(That is only if we can count on Manchin)

Even though it takes 2/3, I would love enough voting against the traitor to give conviction a majority of some sort. Just so he can't say he was "exonerated".But I am not optimistic.

I am just thinking out loud, I fully support impeachment in the House.

other than he couldn't brag about full partisanship. Need 67 to out him.

Would be nice to see some Repubs rebel and vote a conscience.

but a clear majority would stop him from arguing he was exonerated.

He will still say it, but it would be easily refuted.

for impeachment, so a 50/50 vote is kinda a moot point.

Trump can't claim "complete and total exoneration" as well. Although, frankly, I'm not sure what actual value there is of an acquittal of a Republican President by a Republican-controlled Senate.

Bill Clinton's acquittal in the Senate in 1998-1999 by a (hostile) Republican Senate seems like it would have mattered more.

because you need 2/3 of all senators present, which is 67. In fact, I don't think the VP has any role at all in an impeachment trial.

apart from taking over for a dead president, is to break ties in the Senate. In Pence's case, his only other job is to gaze adoringly at Dear Leader.

He is facing an uphill battle for re-election ……..Susan Collins is no doubt "very, very concerned " about the testimony of Sondland .. Romney is trying to screw up the courage to come out against Trump but I doubt he will ……..Ditto for Manchin

She knows that any GOP support for her would vanish in Maine. They're already ticked off at her for taking so long to back Kavanaugh.

I found an article by Elie Mystal (editor of Above The Law) who seems to think that as unlikely as it is, just could happen if we rattle a few cages....

if the majority in the Senate vote to convict him, even if it doesn't reach 67, but 51 instead, with Collins , Murkowski, Romney, and Garner voting with the Democrats, and Manchin not fucking up
