Putin says US 'political dramas' diverting focus from Russia

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin says he’s pleased that the “political battles” in Washington have put on the back-burner accusations that Russia interfered in U.S. elections.

"Thank God,” he told an economic forum in the Russian capital on Wednesday, “no one is accusing us of interfering in the U.S. elections anymore; now they’re accusing Ukraine."

Some Republicans have used the public hearings to tout a discredited conspiracy theory that blames Ukraine, not Russia, for interfering in the U.S.’s 2016 presidential election.

In the impeachment hearings, Democrats in Congress say U.S. President Donald Trump pressured his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, to investigate former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden while withholding U.S. military aid to Kyiv, and argue that may be grounds for removing Trump from office.

The attention on Russia seems to occlude some important aspects about what China is doing and that seems more important.

We have a potential here to have two, disparate blocks of technology separated by a digital cold war curtain and it is in progress. It appears that the USA and China will be the two major forerunners of that so far due to the obvious problem with China's governing style, AI being utilized right now as overt, total surveillance and China's impetus to spread that authoritarian technology to other countries under the guise of "security".

The USA and the West in general have been more covert as far as the 4th Industrial Revolution goes by adopting surveillance capitalism that literally gathers a plethora of information about people and then utilizes it to often subliminally and covertly impact the end users. That will culminate in a wider scope of data gathering by way of the Internet of Things, which will seem more convenient but basically, your appliances, devices and apps will be snitching on you constantly and you will be influenced by less obvious means.

Of course, if we want to keep democracy as we know it and progress, that has to be met head on now and so, people again have to be well informed and vigilant or its going to be rather dystopian and an authoritarian technocracy is goes in the opposite direction of freedom and democracy and steers us deeper into an inescapable Oligarchy.

I can only speculate that the Russian Oligarchy is positioning itself in regards to this kind of domination.
