Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if there were to be a scenario where 45 wants to resign and have Pence pardon him, then given that Sondlund implicated him (Pence) in this conspiracy, Pence wouldn't be able to grant said pardon.
Am I out in left field???

There aren't any constitutional limits on these, sadly. I guess the Founding Fathers didn't figure we would have a flaming asshole like The Orange One in our house.

(12,996 posts)other than a general consensus that one cannot pardon oneself nor can a pardon cover crimes in the future, and of course impeachment.

(17,862 posts)The President can pretty much pardon anyone. Question becomes can you remain politically viable after doing it. In this climate I think you might be.
