But it would look bad for Trump if a significant number of Republicans defect, even if it’s not enough to impeach him.

Sounds unethical to me. If this was being tried in an actual criminal court, they would be indicted.

I'm pretty sure jurors aren't supposed to accept bags of cash from the defendant's friends/family either.
