(12,667 posts)You would think considering our first nude lady's history in the sex industry, the White House would be doing outreach to these women in the sex industry instead of pretending Trump's Slovenian sex worker wasn't one of them.

That's what it would take because with rethugs, the cruelty is the point.

They got CAUGHT. Chairman Schiff is right.
Forget the trump-toadies. They will always be with us, in one form or another. Nothing new.
Get repuke senators (and house reps.) where it would truly hurt them :: power & $$$$$.
Vote blue anywhere and everywhere - give them no more electoral power.
Shine a light - continually - on their cockroach-like access to $$$$.

That *might* flip 20 Republican Senators. But I wouldn't bet on it.

(12,712 posts)I might be nitpicking here, but there are supporters and their are loyalists to me.
A supporter could change their mind based on heinous acts like you mentioned. A loyalist will find some way to frame the act or the reporting of it to fit a strong confirmation bias based on some sort of deep devotion to a person or figurehead. They are the dangerous ones in any situation where there is cult-like behavior around an authority figure.
It is hard to know what kind of numbers we are talking about here and where you draw the line among his overall base, but it seems to me that we have far more "loyalists" in this democracy than even makes sense, education and other factors aside. That points back to our culture and how our society is functioning, so we may be seeing something that is about much more than meets the eye.
We need more sociologists studying this effect since, unlike us layman, they try to put aside their own judgements and biases and can dig both deeply and broadly into what is driving the behaviors and that might help us deal with it better.

The police received the report from Rybkas friend with whom she was staying an apartment.
The Moscow police are checking a local residents report about a theft Anastasia Vashukevich, known as Nastya Rybka, allegedly stole a phone, 2,000 euros and personal belongings from her friend, Life reported. According to the victim, the belongings and money disappeared after party at Rybkas apartment in the Oko tower.

(2,634 posts)A friend of mine, and one of the smarter people that I know, has put forth an interesting theory - the idea that particulate pollution is leading to a higher incidence of testosterone-deficiency in utero, and this in turn is leading to people being born with insufficient dopamine and oxytocin production in the brain.
To put this into simpler terms, roughly one person in five in this country is born in this country without the ability to feel compassion or deep introspection. They have almost no ability to "role-play", to put themselves into other people's shoes, are usually adrenaline junkies or need constant stimulation just to feel "normal" and usually only feel pleasure when they have power over others.
That 20% of the population worship Trump because he's one of them. He really could walk down 5th Avenue shooting people right and left and they would cheer him on while doing it, because it's what they would do if they felt they could get away with it. They are, to put it bluntly, unreachable.
The problems that the Republicans face is that they have, not completely inadvertently, brought this group almost wholly under their umbrella. Another 20% of the country are party loyalists and "true" conservatives, but they are not all that on-board with the tariffs, the isolationism or the systematic detaching of this country from its role as a global power. They want Trump to stick with de-regulating, but they are becoming increasingly alarmed with the chaos that he's creating. You're probably seeing more of them self-identifying as independents these days because they don't want to embrace the Democratic brand but are also becoming disillusioned with how far the Republicans have moved from their personal beliefs.
This latter group is reachable. I do not believe that removal of Trump by the Senate is possible, but I think censure very much is.
