criminal activity related to the committee's investigation.

But she cannot pick a replacement.

Nor can the Repukes pick a replacement exactly - the Ranking Member sot goes to the next ranking member, just as Carolyn Maloney stepped in for Elijah Cummings (sob, sniff.) They can appoint a new member but that member will be at the bottom of the totem pole. They cannot make Gym Jordan the ranking member.
