I just don't get it. Republicans expect us to believe that everyone who has testified,

under oath, is lying and that Trump, who has lied continually, is telling the truth.

They disregard the sworn testimony of nonpartisan government employees who have served our country for years, if not decades, while they defend the man who has admitted to committing the acts he has been accused of.

They are willing to smear and call into question the motives of dedicated career personnel while ignoring the longstanding immoral behavior of Trump.

And then, to top it all off, they pretend to be patriots.

because the Trump Cult in their respective states/ districts will turn on them ...Look at what happened to Justin Amash …….He did the right thing and had to give up his seat - forced to retire from Congress after 2020 ……. That is why few if any of them will vote to impeach or convict this criminal, lawless President …. Many of those GOP'ers retiring want to become K Street lobbyists …..Not going to happen if they vote to impeach Trump … According to Jeff Flake , most GOP Senators secretly despise Trump …. It's all about power and Money …...They don't give a shit about the Country ……… Had a Democratic President engaged in such lawless misconduct , he/ she would have ben ejected from Office long ago ...The Dems would have done the right thing …….

and that EVERYONE ELSE is "fake news." Unfortunately, there are still enough people in their cult who believe this. These are the same people who still believe the "Republicans LOVE the military", when all the evidence points to the contrary. You know they're beyond redemption and help, when they clamp their lips to the ass of a corrupt former KGB agent--after decades of calling people on the left "Commie Russia lovers." How the fuck did we get to this point?

What an ugly S.O.B. I absolutely hate McConnell - he has fed off our government long enough. He should be gone. They talk against homeless, people getting assistance, etc and here are people raised in wealth feeding off our government - they are the bottom-feeders. They've had every chance in the world, which a lot of us have not had, and they still use our government for their own gain. A lot of them, like McConnell have never done a days work in their lives. They have had everything handed to them on a silver platter and still they want more!!!

Get ready for the secession crises, and be prepared to let them go this time.

Every single metropolitan area over a million people should begin looking at the governing principles of the Greek City-States as a model for what is coming in the Confederate States of America by 2050.

There is no longer a common truth or set of facts that we can debate. The right has fled reality for the comfort of a soothing lie and a snake oil trickster telling them what they want to hear instead. Look no further than the stark difference of the Dominican Republic and Haiti to see how this all plays out. Rural America - so happy to be labelled the 'real Americans' by Palin and Trump - is going to become a poverty stricken hell-hole of epic proportions, and the saddest part of all? They are going enthusiastically down the path of their own economic doom. Maybe Jeebus will surprise the fuck out of me and actually ride down to save them...but I would not bet on it.

Fuck 'em. Seriously. If you believe there is ANYTHING redemptive about Trumpism or Trump at all, you are beneath contempt and deserve EVERYTHING that is coming their way and more. I am done trying to explain the difference between fantasy and reality. Facts and science have a funny way of stopping caring at some point too...they just ARE...and my compassion for the people who see Trump and think "GREAT" has evaporated completely.

At some point, you just turn away, let them drink the Kool-Aid and allow the jungle to reclaim their remains.

these career diplomats with stellar records and impeccable work histories asked themselves what is the smartest thing they could do for themselves personally and professionally and decided that thing would be to commit perjury to a congressional committee in order to gain absolutely nothing for themselves.

They are totally about private property interests. It's all about getting more - for them. Even CJ Roberts pro-corporate rulings are the same basis. When Trump said he would "make America great again" he meant eviscerating all barriers to making money for him and his cronies. Rules, regulations, environment, law, people - mean nothing to them. If they can make a buck putting kids in cages, they want to do it.

They have their own, completely separate, reality.

They can maintain this reality because they never pay a penalty for their belief in this alternate reality.

There has been no mechanism to bring their beliefs into alignment with reality.

Nothing will change as long as this does not change.

Unless we can come up with a mechanism for bringing their beliefs into alignment with reality, nothing will change.

Removing the orange dolt, via conviction in the senate or via election 2020, does not change the equation.

These are stopgap measures only.

Long term, belief needs to more closely align with reality. We are all, basically, fucked if it does not.

Just my miserable, worthless, two cents.
