South Korean K-pop star Goo Hara was found dead in her home in Seoul on Sunday, saddening fans of the 28-year-old musician and actress around the world.
Police say the cause of death is under investigation, and have not yet filed an official report about her passing.
Goo was hospitalized in May after what has been reported as an alleged suicide attempt. Last year, she was involved in a high-profile legal battle with an ex-boyfriend who she claimed had threatened her with revenge porn. The case was covered closely by the tabloid press and resulted in harsh public criticism directed at Goo online.
Goo was a former member of the enormously popular K-pop group Kara, one of the first such groups to break through to international audiences.
Her death comes a little more than a month after the suspected death by suicide of 25-year-old K-pop star Sulli, who was a close friend of Goos.
On Saturday she posted a photo of herself on Instagram lying in bed with the caption good night.

My 14-year old son's friends recently shot and killed himself. And I'm so worried for my son.

(9,067 posts)chain reaction suicide of a coach and his pupil. The pupil was the grandson of my ex step-mom. She believes the coach's suicide was like giving permission to her grandson.
I had a friend who did it on Christmas eve back in the early 90's and his best friend did it the following year on Christmas eve.
Then an old high school friend hung herself about 6 years ago, then another mutual high school friend did the same, then a friends sister did it, then another. All but one knew each other. The youngest was the last one I heard about and she knew of my friends suicide via a close mutual friend.
It was troubling to say the least.

(38,687 posts)I started watching K-Pop 10 years ago after coming across a Girls Generation video on Youtube.
Goo is on the right at about 0:11.
Sulli was in f(x), the sister group to Girls Generation.
Sulli first appears around 0:05.
The 'netcitizens' who haunt K-Pop message boards can be some cruel and judgmental assholes.
