Just blown away by the election results in Hong Kong.

Pro-Democracy candidates won 90% of the contested seats.

Over 70% of the population came out to vote, shattering the previous record of 47%.

People were so excited they celebrated in the streets.

Wow! Voting in high, high numbers -- this is how you overturn fascism.

are typically close to 70% overall (mid 60s for both in the 2012 election), but Asian and Hispanic voters turn out at much lower rates.

White turnout was at 65.3% nationally - higher than in 2012. Black turnout, though, took a dive - going from 66.6% in 2012 (higher than any demographic) and dropping to 59.6% in 2016. That was the election right there. It was the lowest turnout for that demographic since the 2000 election.

I hope this bodes well for US!

I would categorized Israeli election and events as well - throwing out Netanyahu.

May this current reign of autocrats end and humanity work now towards more justice and dignity for all.

I was just thinking Hong Kong needs to secede and become it's own country, but China will never let that happen.
