Isn't it ironic?

I grew up in the 50s and 60s, during the height of the Cold War.

Back then, the "Commies" were called The Reds. Both parties opposed them. The GOP somehow managed to co-opt the whole anti-Commie/anti-Reds mantle.

Fast forward to the later decades of the last century and red and blue was variable, depending on who was in power at any given time. That soon morphed in Democrats as Blue and Republicans as Red.

So the latest Reds to be opposed are actually within, not external. And yet they are tied too . . . . . the Reds of old.

And no less detestable.

How ironic.
