So half of all Americans still think Trump should be removed from office, but

apparently this is BAD for Democrats?

CNN Poll: No change in views on impeachment after public hearings

Seems that the media is telling me this morning that this is a fail for Dems, because "the numbers haven't moved." Well excuse me, but HALF THE COUNTRY WANTS TRUMP REMOVED FROM OFFICE. Fewer than half think he hasn't done anything wrong. And this is a fail because the numbers haven't moved?

Why is this not a fail for Republicans? According to them, Trump has done nothing wrong. Yet it would seem that after two weeks of nationally televised hearings, during which Republicans have had equal time to present their best defense of Donald Trump and his -- according to them -- completely innocuous activities, HALF THE COUNTRY STILL WANTS TRUMP REMOVED FROM OFFICE.

Dear Media, the numbers favoring impeachment were SIGNIFICANTLY lower just a few months ago, before jumping up once Trump's crimes were exposed. If the hearings over the past couple of weeks haven't moved the numbers, that means that Republicans have failed to present a compelling defense of Trump's crimes. Because if they had, surely the numbers would be moving back to where they were before the hearings.

says she has always supported impeachment, and still does, but thinks censure may be an effective alternative. She is still committed to voting to impeach.

Censure is a non-starter since the senate will never take it up.

Maybe there isn't much more of a needle to move. Dems have half of the country on their side and Trump basically only has his 40 or so % In what reality is that even a failure? Also, I'm really not even sure that there's ANYTHING the Dems can do to convince Republicans in the Senate or the Trump cultists to do ANYTHING. I do note that many Republican pundits and some rank-and-filers are increasingly abandoning Trump and even calling out Republicans in Congress as being complicit. It's not over yet.

Unfortunately, the media just wants to make everything look bad- for Democrats- because there apparently isn't any money in making things look worse for Republicans because it will just get them accused of having a *gasp* "liberal bias" or of somehow being "in the tank" for Democrats.

When a Republican is President, the media covers mainly Republicans because that's who's usually making all of the news and commanding all of the attention.

When a Democrat is President, however, the media covers mainly Republicans because they act like sore losers and a**holes and their antics to try to tear down the Democratic President is usually making all of the news and commanding of their attention. Plus, again, they don't want to be accused of having a "liberal bias" or of somehow being "in the tank" for Democrats.

When it comes to the media, it's pretty much always a lose/lose for Democrats and and a win/win for Republicans because even when the Republicans are down, the media minimizes it or spins it in a different direction and when the Democrats are down, the media maximizes it.

The media is something that Democrats can't currently win at, so we have to win IN SPITE OF.

You are correct. Its also like they are perpetually recalibrating the balance of what is acceptable or normal, in order to accommodate Republicans and not "offend" them. Like the level of the house sitting on soft ground. One side is sinking to the right, even if it started with just a little bit decades ago, its continually shifted down on the right side. And even though anything round rolls to the right on the floor, and now its so skewed the furniture is starting to slide, they pretend that the house is still level. Hold themselves against sliding themselves in the middle of the room and declare the room is level.

He said that those in favor of impeaching Bill Clinton never rose about 30%. And those for impeaching Richard Nixon stayed at similar low numbers until the last few weeks before his resignation.

Half the country in favor of impeaching and removing Trump, in these fractured days, is pretty darned amazing!
