Tinfoil hat time?

Someone posted a link (on DU, I think) over the weekend noting that all branches of the military have secretaries that have been appointed relatively recently. I think they all took their posts this year, and I believe most (all?) are acting secretaries.

One Army general was quoted over the weekend that in his view the Gallagher issue was closed. Done and dusted, as the British might say. Nothing to see here, as the Americans might see. Move on.

I think many of us here are having a hard time figuring out the military in the trump regime. Would they carry out illegal orders? Would anyone question illegal orders? Or does trump now have a compliant leadership in the defense secretary and in the secretaries of the army, Air force, and navy, as well as compliant leadership in the Marines and Coast Guard?

So, illegal possibilities? Activating the military in the US in connection with the elections next year. He's already done that with The Wall on the southern border. Using nuclear weapons? Actually removing American troops completely from Europe and South Korea?

I know, I know. It's pointless to speculate, but remember. If it weren't for one - count 'em, one - whistleblower, we wouldn't be where we are now with the impeachment hearings. He is clearly paying off Republicans senators so that they don't stray during the trial in the senate. There is no so-called resistance in the White House, notwithstanding Anonymous's book.

He has thrown every government agency into disarray by stocking them with loyalists and upending norms and protocols. He has a core 40% of Americans who bow down to him. Who's to say that he wouldn't use that, along with a compliant military, to do what he damn well pleases.

Some have been pleased with recent court findings re tax returns and subpoena issues, and they have expressed a sense of gratitude, in this week of Thanksgiving, that the tide may be turning.

I don't share that optimism. Too many other things are lined up in trump's favor, including that 40% and a group of fantastically corrupt Republicans in Congress.
