but the university I work at inexplicably killed the applied math/engineering Phd (along with its math and physics majors). Which means I'd have to actually pay out of pocket for a degree I'd like to pursue just for the fun of it. (I'm approaching retirement, so I'd never use it - and if they keep doing stupid stuff around her it might be sooner, rather than later.)
