About that tiny decline in people who want to impeach. (Original Post) LAS14 Nov 2019 OP

I agree. If Trump is gone the straying Repubs might grab at a chance to come "home." nt LAS14 Nov 2019 #3

I don't agree that it wouldn't be easier to run against Haley, Pence or Romney. Aquaria Nov 2019 #5

they've heard that the Senate will not come up with the two-thirds margin needed to remove Trump, and thus, the focus is properly on the election as a better way to dump Trump.

Besides, it will be easier to run against Trump than against Pence (or Mittens or Nicki Haley or whoever) next November. You can't give any Republicon any chance to establish any semblance of "normalcy" to take into Election Day.

that no matter who the GOP candidate is, the Republicons are going to fully demonize the Democratic ticket to anybody who's even thought about voting GOP.

None of them have the same rabid cultish celebrity appeal that the Mango MAGAt has. Hell, Pence was doomed to losing as governor of Indi-fricking-ana before his career got put on life support by the Dolt campaign. Mittens will never win the electorate as long as the bigots out there hate Mormons as much as they do Catholics, Jews and atheists. And Haley--come on. The evangeliscum will never accept a woman ruling over them, and the racists have no use for a bishi like that.

If King Mierdas isn't running, I foresee much of the enthusiasm on the GOP side collapsing, and, even better, the assorted deranged factions within the RWNJs going for each other's throats without the lodestar Captain CrapMyPants to bind them all in the darkness. The fractures have been deepening between the evangeliscum, the war hawks, the supply-sider nitwits and the establishment plutocrats for a very long time now.

They're almost there, already. One twist of fate, like Fatty McDumbass not running, could cause the entire house of cards to collapse.

that Romney would not go over well with the MAGAt crowd, but Haley and Pence have a shot at being considered loyal members of this current administration. If Pence gives Trump a pardon, then the MAGAts would have his back in a general election, and probably in the primaries, too, if it came down to that.

Remember, ANY president who takes over after Trump will be viewed as "normal" simply by comparison. The mushy middle who really don't like to talk or think about politics will be able to go back to sleep without the news media distracting them with "Look what the President tweeted NOW!" and can simply go back to watching America's Got Talent, or whatever drivel pleases them.
