(218 posts)I look at the man, and listen to him, watching him take in the areas and people and foods and cultures. Depression. I get it but man, what a waste.
Excellent show. I have learned a lot about the world around us thru his shows.

(218 posts)You will hear some comments from him thru out his many shows about the bleakness he sees in the world. He had made references to it in the past.

(21,866 posts)cultures through their food and sitting down with real people and having interesting conversations. he was an original. so real. sorely missed. I loved his Obama visit in Vietnam. That episode was so good.

(3,568 posts)and couldn't stop thinking about how it seemed he had it all. Renowned in his profession, best selling author, his own successful tv show allowing him to indulge his curiosity, and yet, one day in France he decided death was preferable to any more of his life. It was shocking then, but doesn't seem quite so shocking to me now.
