I am having trouble thinking of any that were remotely recent (the last one I could find was the 1997 North Hollywood Shootout, which was a bank robbery and with only the two robbers killed, no one else.)

About 40 miles outside London. The news was on the television, but nobody really paid much attention (and I’m in super-conservative Essex). Though, when I ordered a beer, the bartender-noticing my accent- said “well there would’ve been a lot more dead if this was the States.” Touché.
