"There is widespread disgust in the officer corps..." Col. Claus von Stauffenberg - Valkyrie movie

There is widespread disgust in the officer corps toward the crimes committed by the Nazis, the murder of civilians, the torture and starvation of prisoners, the mass execution of Jews. My duty as an officer is no longer to save my country, but to save human lives. I cannot find one general in a position to confront Hitler with the courage to do it.

It began in the 1920s, when corporate donors supported the NSDAP to combat the rise of Communism. (To clarify, the Communists hated parliamentary democracy as much as the Nazis did.)

Later, when the Nazis rose to power, there were all sorts of connections between corporations and Nazis: The corporations bribed the Nazis and in return the Nazis provided them with legal impunity and slave-labour. The Nazis embezzled and accepted bribes, they stole and pillaged to their heart's desire.

What do you think why the Nazis invented all those fancy titles for themselves? "Reichssturmgruppenführer." Because they were obsessed with power and status.

AFAIK the only Nazi who didn't actually care about money was Hitler himself: His girlfriend Eva Braun offered him the idea to sell commemorative stamps with his image to make a fortune. He outright rejected the idea.

There was a simple reason why none of the top generals shared the lower officers' disgust for the Nazis: Because they knew that if Hitler were to fail, the money-train of embezzlement would end.

Goebbels arranged the buy of more than a million copies of Hitler's screed. They were given to approved Aryan newlyweds from the state.
Those royalties did end up in Hitler's pocket.
