The order of succession comes into play IF more than one office is empty at the same time - like, oh, Trump accidentally serves botulism-tainted KFC to Pence and they both die of food poisoning.

Needing to get rid of both the President and VP has happened before. The sequence was:

1. Spiro Agnew resigned his office.
2. Nixon was informed in no uncertain terms that the only person Congress would approve as Agnew's replacement was Gerald Ford. Nixon then nominated Ford, who was accepted.
3. Nixon then resigned his office. Ford became president.

even in the off-chance that the senate votes to remove Trump from office, i fully expect them to stipulate that Pence gets to conclude Trump's term unimpeded as part of their devil's bargain.

remember, if both Trump and Pence were removed without confirming a new VP, it would put Speaker Pelosi in the presidency and there's just no way the GOP-infested senate would enable that.

Pence should be gone, along with Moscow Mitch, Nunes the Ratcow, and all the rest.

And that it could be shown that Barr has acted illegally and inappropriately so he can be removed.

It is provable that Trump is unfit and has abused the power of the office of the Presidency.

I don't know if anyone can or has proven the same about Pence.

They know Pence is in it as deep as tRUMP was. Also pence will have NO VP until the House votes on it. We COULD impeach pence AFTER we get rid of tRUMP. THEY know this.

opposite party of the winning president, and so there existed an understanding that if the president were removed, control of the White House would transfer to the 'other' political party.

Probably too late now, but impeach the ticket, and elevate nancy to the presidency. Have her appoint Hillary to be her vice president and then immediately resign. THAT would begin to undo the THEFT that was perpetrated on the voting majority in this country.

To the extent there is any chance of Republican votes to impeach or remove Trump, it evaporates if Pence is threatened.
