Lindsey heard the tapes
I've been told Lindsey Graham has heard the tapes that Gulliani's henchman provided and that is why he has had this "change of heart" and brought up "censure" over impeachment. He has seen the writing on the wall and knows other (R)'s in the Senate will convict.
Take it for what its worth.

2. Don't believe you're right, but I sure am hoping you are.
In this day and age, when everything is surveilled, and everybody leaks, I look askance on this kind of idea. The fact remains that just like the purported videos of Cheeto face with underage Russian hookers/teenage miss universe contestants (take your pick), and whether pissing was involved or not, if those tapes really existed they would have been made public by now.
A payday that big doesn’t get missed. |

... so that he's pushing a strategy that will forestall any vote in the senate that will put them on the record.

25. A slap on the wrist
is not enough for what tRump has done. He will just ignore that, he needs to be completely stripped of all the privileges he has flaunted. He has strutted around spending the taxpayer cash like it is his personal piggy bank. Time to pay the price. He holds hate rallies, then leaves the town to cover the bills, at taxpayer expense. Old habits die hard. He is a deadbeat, as many small contractors came to understand over many years.

7. What we know now is
Just the tip of the ice berg the crimes trump has done, and is involved in, and the republican's are digging themselves a hole they not be able to get out of very soon from it. Then be exposed for their involvement in conspiring to commit crimes with and for trump. I think they've already lost , and now risk their party's future from protecting and their criminal involvement . Or we have no system of justice at all. Their excuses and flimsy claims, and accusations aren't working any longer now. The republicans in Congress will have to remove him knowing a lot more will expose them as well.

9. I don't necessarily think that he believes that the Senate will convict
I think that his advocacy of censure is more of a desire to avoid having even more damaging details- possibly to himself and/or other GOPers- spill out during an Impeachment Trial. Sort of like he wants a "settlement" that ends everything. He's scared IMHO.

But Nixon has a safe margin in the Senate until his tapes came out.
We need some patriot to leak a tape to prove Trump’s criminal behavior. He, like Caeser, has a lot of enemies who despise him around him every day. |

22. No chance Senate will remove
About as likely as Dotard apologizing for something.
But it does show the Republican Senators would be very, very open to ANYTHING that allows them to skip the acquittal vote. Which is why impeachment must (& will) happen. |

30. First Thought
That was the first thing I thought when Graham mentioned 'censure' the other day. He's looking for a way out of impeachment. Floating censure is not going to work. Republicans are going to be forced to show what they're made of. I cautiously and hopefully predict conviction.

32. If the vote in the Senate were taken by secret ballot,
Trump would find himself sitting on his ass out in the parking lot with a pink slip.
If they have the vote publicly, hard to say. I'd love to see enough Republicans in the Senate vote to remove, and failing that, I believe a simple majority can forbid Trump from holding elected office after he leaves the presidency in January 2021. |

33. But the other side of that coin is
if the ballot was secret, those who voted not to convict could claim the opposite if that was politically expedient in the future.
Conviction or not, I want to know how they voted and I want them to live with it for the rest of their lives and for it to be in the first paragraph in their obituary. |
