Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsSo--where are all the outraged factcheckers discovering the lies of our convention speakers?
Media? Right wing? It's been 2 days. Haven't the Dems (who are exactly like the Republicans) told umpteen lies, more than the Repubs (as I've been told they surely do.)
Somebody? Don't we have any citizens ON EITHER SIDE who will stand up and call out our liars?
What's that? They tried but couldn't find any? Could that possibly be true? And with so little effort and coordination! It's almost like the Dems have an ethic for telling the truth, even if it hurts!
Who would reject the non-stop, contemptuous, superior, Demoncrats-mean-the-end-of-days fantasies of the right to embrace naked, un-remarkable truth?
WE WOULD!!!
Real life is beautiful and a call to action! Not a mandate to curse, to hide and prepare for death.
Thank you democrats for bring real life to America.

(110,159 posts)lies, as if it was a given.
stewart was calling brokav out about the ryan lies and how reporters no longer called it but allow fact check to do it. and was is, "stretching" or something, it is lying.
brokav then had to bring dems into lying also, though at that time he had nothing, and doesnt have anything after the speeches, all got to hear, it is dems and repug

(1,374 posts)I disagree with many of their conclusions, but there is indeed fact-checking going on.
No politician is always 100% truthful. That being said, there is absolutely no comparison of Dems to the unbelievable whoppers told by Rethugs. Our side IS more truthful and willing to make fact-based arguments. That doesn't mean Dems are always right and everything they say is correct. I question everything.

(30,676 posts)I'm sure there are distortions and hedges, but we aren't trying to mislead on every point due to the inadequacy of our program.

(12,287 posts)I'll have to look into this site, because they are not using facts for their fact checking. In the second one, the speakers said in the last 29 months he's created 4.5 mil jobs...that's correct. Using his whole term one would have to deduct the losses in the first few months which rightfully should be credited to Bush, since no Obama policies were in effect or even passed then. The first one yes the taxes would go up by elimination of earned income credit and morgage interest credits being removed. The pell grants - fewer people would be eligable for them due to the lowering of acceptable income amounts for qualifying for the grants.
I'm not going to check the rest...but they are really stretching and nit-picking.

(1,374 posts)And I said I disagree with many of their conclusions. Especially the one where they say we should trust Romney won't raise taxes on the middle class because he says he won't. I mean come on...
FactCheck.org used to be reliable. Now they're just spinning to appear to be balanced. Just like PolitiFact they've lost credibility with me.

(24,438 posts)I don't know how they can call the assertion that Romney/Ryan will raise taxes on the middle class a lie or distortion simply because, oh, Mitt didn't come right out and SAY IT! However, we all know or at least have some general idea about what their policies will mean for the middle class based on what they have said. Truth is, we don't really know much about what Romney/Ryan would actually do for anybody but the wealthy but I think that most of us can surmise that it won't be good.

(19,458 posts)She went off on all the lies that the FIrst Lady told, tho she referred to her as "that woman!" and hoped that "lightening didn't strike her" Still trying to figure out what lies those could have been, as she was talking about personal experiences. I guess there are facts, and then there are facts.

(31,849 posts)give them a minute ... It takes time to parse out one letter here and another letter there and combine it into a sentence that approaches what they'll say the Democrats have said.

(30,676 posts)wow--they admit the claim is largely true, then trash the Dems for making a point they didn't make.
Thanks, CNN--it's exactly what I expected from you.
