Starched flags? Pinned flags? Draped over hidden forms? (See photo below.)
Whatever happened to just allowing the flag to drape naturally? Does it display like this because of the type of fabric it is? Or is this just a stylish and trendy way to display flags?

(22,976 posts)I cant imagine the chief executive of any country doing something so infantile and embarrassing.
In the MAGAts mentality, however, Im sure they adore the crassness in their imperfect vessel sent by almighty God to do His work here on earth. (And pardon me while I chug down some Pepto Bismol after writing that.)

(72,152 posts)They insist that flags with gold fringe aren't 'real' American flags, and so they aren't subject to the jurisdiction of any court that displays them, or some shit. No need to spread that kind of horse manure around here. It won't grow anything useful.

(24,979 posts)If you dont have time for the video from the folks at Sovereign Filing Solutions, heres the crux of the argument: courts only have jurisdiction over two types of criminal claims, specifically common law and admiralty/military tribunals. According to the video, there cant be common-law criminal claims because theres no aggrieved party, and the People or State or Commonwealth dont count because then the judge, as an employee of the state, has to recuse him/herself from the proceeding.
Slam. Dunk. Im sure this works all the time.
As the video continues, Professor Geico Gecko tells us that statutes can never be the basis for a criminal action because why? Apparently because the statutes arent in the Constitution? Or something? Note these folks actually charge people for their instructional videos.
The website I just quoted believes the argument is batshit insane, as it is.

(82,383 posts)I read, so they are arguing that secretly, the states have been done away with (other than the hint by using the admiralty jurisdiction flag
:rofl
and we are in one huge federal area - the federal government has taken over completely. Also saw that the two-letter abbreviations for each state mean that - the state is only a federal area with those letters, PA, CA, etc. to mark an administrative division. Sovereign citizens thus in protest use the old abbreviations - Cal. Penn., etc.
See post #17.
A sincere suggestion: Sometimes it helps to do some research before posting.
treestar
(82,383 posts)that makes it more official, but officially, it means admiralty jurisdiction. Properly, only admiralty court should use them. Nobody really pays attention to that except conspiracy nuts who think use of the admiralty flag in a regular court is a secret sign that the federal government has taken over the states.

(9,387 posts)Pipe and drape, flags uniformly placed, a lot of things are used as backdrops. Judging from the serious nature of the conversation, Impeachment, the flags do not seem at all out of place to me. They are often used as backdrop in the Capitol, The Whitehouse, Federal Buildings, Campaign Events......

(42,862 posts)Instead, my comments were only about how the flags appear to be unnaturally pinned-open. This is not new, I've seen it many times before, this just happened to be a photo that shows it and it has nothing to do with Pelosi or her announcement.

(42,862 posts)Agreed... I guess I'm just old fashioned. Flags on poles look best... when displayed like this:

But, keep in mind that I also believe that Christmas tree lights should look like this:

(42,862 posts)Some of the flag-selling websites offer them in polyester or nylon... I'd imagine that the casket-sized flags would be available in a fabric that easily lays flat and drapes/folds nicely on the corners.

They probably ARE pinned to form a decorative backdrop/barricade, that closes off the doors behind them. The stripes are pretty much lining up, flag by flag.

...
d. The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

(33,643 posts)The use of which would not violate any of those stipulations as long as the flag is hanging freely over those poles, or attached to them. Or so I'd think ...

(102,693 posts)news piece, a long time ago-maybe on PBS, where they showed the set up people preparing these flag sets. They were using a coat hanger looking form and pins or something to hold them just so. but they are technically still able to drape free as required in the code.

(102,693 posts)if they have to hang free. I can't recall how long ago that little piece in a screen was, I know it wasn't on any of my training sessions though I guess why I remembered it is because I used to handle flags regularly.

(19,684 posts)fabric they are made of (looks like a stiffer, non-cotton type fabric), the stitching (usually fairly stiff on that kind of fabric), and the edging material. All would work together to give it a certain look.

(17,423 posts)We used something like PVC pipe in the top of the flag so they would keep that shape.
Perfectly normal, especially in ceremonial areas and government official offices.
