Mitt Romneys tax returns are reportedly in the hands of a team of hackers who plan on releasing them publicly at the end of the month unless a ransom is paid.
The group allegedly obtained the files from PricewaterhouseCoopers Tennessee office on Aug. 25, in what was described on PasteBin as a Mission Impossible-like caper:
Romneys 1040 tax returns were taken from the PWC office 8/25/2012 by gaining access to the third floor via a gentleman working on the 3rd floor of the building. Once on the 3rd floor, the team moved down the stairs to the 2nd floor and setup shop in an empty office room. During the night, suite 260 was entered, and all available 1040 tax forms for Romney were copied. A package was sent to the PWC on suite 260 with a flash drive containing a copy of the 1040 files, plus copies were sent to the Democratic office in the county and copies were sent to the GOP office in the county at the beginning of the week also containing flash drives with copies of Romneys tax returns before 2010. A scanned signature image for Mitt Romney from the 1040 forms were scanned and included with the packages, taken from earlier 1040 tax forms gathered and stored on the flash drives.
The files are to be released to the public on Sept. 28, according to the PasteBin document.

(8,962 posts)To cast Romney as a "victim" of illegal shenanigans and somehow neutralize the no-tax-returns issue. Much as GW Bush's National Guard AWOL issue was deflected when the 2004 expose of his military records turned out to be tainted (fictititious records containing factual information).

(11,001 posts)You'd better bet that when Mitty refused to release those returns, there were locked in an impenetrable location and data base. Nothing would be left out for anyone to find.

(21,925 posts)how can we trust them to be real? I guess if they show he paid no taxes, and he disputes their authenticity, he'll be free to release the real ones.

EXCERPT...
Glasgow: And are you now satisfied that Mark White and the Democratic Party did not bug your office as you -- as you released, ah, to the newspapers?
Rove: Senator, I never said Mark White bugged my office, I'm not certain he has an electronic background. I never said the Democratic Party bugged it either. ... As to who bugged it, Senator, I do not know -- and the FBI does not know. ...
Glasgow: How long have you known an FBI agent by the name of Greg (Rampton)?
Rove: Ah, Senator, it depends -- would you define "know" for me?
