https://www.abbybroyles.com/She is a former newscaster. THere are several others in the Dem primary, but they probably don't have a chance.
I've always said that only a football coach could defeat Inhofe, but this woman may appeal to many.

(17,604 posts)If she votes for a D for Majority Leader she's an improvement over Inhofe. Anything else is gravy, from Oklahoma.

(94,738 posts)Inhofe won his last race with 68% of the vote. This is a SAFE-R seat.
If you have money to burn, start with McSally, Gardner and Collins, and then move on to Tillis.

(12,265 posts)She left to attend law school, graduating I think last year. She is pretty moderate, not progressive at all which is good because she would not have a snowballs chance (excuse the pun) if she was progressive. Anyone would be better than the current Senator who i refuse to name.
She will have a rough road, fighting all the oil and banking money.

(19,973 posts)Just three years ago it was the new hot spot in U.S. shale, the Permian Jr., and the place where many pinned their hopes for the next oil boom. Now, oil and gas companies are curbing their operations in the STACK/SCOOP plays in Oklahoma, some are selling, and there is little evidence of the enthusiasm from three years ago.
The low cost of production and high yields were among the factors that drove the rush to the STACK (Sooner Trend, Anadarko, Canadian, and Kingfisher) and SCOOP (South Central Oklahoma Oil Province) plays. Devon, Continental, and Marathon Oil were among the biggest players present there with the most ambitious plans. Now, Devon has cut its capex for the STACK/SCOOP area, and Continental and Marathon Oil have limited their operations to producing wells only with no exploration in their immediate plans, Reuters David French writes.
The root of the problem has turned out to be geological, which might be a little surprising given all the advancements in exploratory technology, but tells us that even with these advancements not all is certain. The rock formations have turned out to be a lot more complex than those in the Permian, making productive drilling a lot more challenging in some parts of the STACK/SCOOP.

Show off the looks, never mind the brain she has.

(9,036 posts)sorry, just a reflex...Oklahoma, attractive newscaster, Oklahoma
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)But she seems to have worked hard to get where she is, I read the bio on her accomplishments as a reporter, pretty impressive for someone that is still pretty young. I hope that she has more morals and won't work at Fox News, but if she makes the Senate race close or win it, she likely has written her fast lane ticket for life with her apparent brains and clearly good looks.

(31,261 posts)I am more concerned about her brain, but I am sure that she is 1,000,000,000% better than Imhoff.
Jane Austin
(9,199 posts)that doesn't mean I've ever gotten used to that much lipstick.
She sounds a lot better than Inhofe - but then who wouldn't?!
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)Ms Broyles may use the stout red lipstick to set her lips off. Look at her, any other color besides black or purple will wash out given her hair and skin tone.
Maybe I am showing my stupid male side, but I have never felt that makeup makes a really attractive woman look better, for me, it seems to detract. Just a good Lipbalm and skin lotion is what I have noticed with very good looking women that rock their looks.
I also don't understand why men wear hairpieces, but I have a full head of hair, so maybe I am not one to opine on that.
Jane Austin
(9,199 posts)and I just don't see that much fake-looking makeup where I spend time.
Maybe I should go shopping instead of to the Y.

(42,862 posts)It's a bit much. (I prefer things to be a bit more subtle and natural... not night-clubby.)
She's a very pretty woman, but I hope she tones it down. I wish her much luck.
(Could it be that the photo has been altered? Even with makeup, nobody has skin that looks like porcelain.)

(17,988 posts)The picture.
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)Her light skin and blonde hair would cause any other color to wash out, even if she wore no lipstick at all. I think I remember you saying that you are from Tennessee, you should know that here in the South, women makeup like that for regular social events, even church. The only time I don't see it is during Saturday morning grocery shopping.
Jane Austin
(9,199 posts)Now you have me picturing all that lipstick on the Communion Chalice at church.
:blergh:
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)so communion would not be an issue. I saw Catholics taking communion once, the priest wiped the chalice with a cloth after each drinker, he also seemed to rolled the cloth to expose clean cloth for each wipe.
Personally, there is no way that I would drink from a common container after anyone drank from it. I am really strange that way, I don't drink after family or even girlfriends that I was ok with kissing. I know, it doesn't make sense, but people have strange phobias that logic doesn't overcome.

(31,261 posts)That color and that much lipstick is less common in more northern states. AOC is one exception, but hers is really toned downed when compared to Ms Broyles. But, all in all, I hope that Ms Broyles becomes the next US Senator from Oklahoma, the country needs the improvement.

(1,858 posts)ENSURING ALL VOICES ARE HEARD
Former KFOR TV news journalist and Attorney Abby Broyles has dedicated herself to seeking out the best in Oklahoma, holding those who hurt our families accountable, and protecting taxpayer dollars. Knowing her job as a journalist was to report with accuracy, Abby worked to ensure that voices on all sides were heard, earning the trust of Oklahomans.
An award-winning investigative reporter, Abby uncovered political corruption that led to felony charges against a Senator; unraveled the story of a hush-money sexual harassment scandal at the state Capitol; exposed a loophole that allowed a sexual predator of children to keep his taxpayer-funded retirement; and held lawmakers accountable for wasting taxpayer dollars defending legislation they knew to be unconstitutional.
Abbys weekly show Only in Oklahoma with Abby Broyles was a love letter to the Sooner state, featuring unique stories of people, communities and businesses throughout Oklahoma. Abby brought people together, showing how Oklahoma is a special place and our families have much more in common than we have different.
In 2017, Abby confronted head-on the need for change when she investigated a back-room power play at the capitol that stalled progress for women when politicians killed equal pay for women by keeping bills from receiving a vote.

Have a good holiday period.
