(740 posts)NO.
Just got a post from a nephew this morning stating he was voting trump 2020. Saddens me that he does not have more respect for his 6 children's future than that.

(6,508 posts)Why why why ??? We don't even know who his opponent will be yet.
Sadly, I had to declare my home a Trump-free zone, as in "no comments, no political discussion, no mention of the Orange Turd."
It's because of this blind loyalty in the face of utter depravity that I will follow suit and vote for any Democrat on the ballot as long as they are free of outright corruption and evil, which is what we know we have in Trump. I used to vote for the candidate that I thought would be best for the country--oh, who am I kidding, anyone else would be better than Trump.
Trump wants to be a dictator, admires villains, and he will be totally out of control if people who can't think reelect him. Or, he manages to game the voting again. And then, when he's finished raping the country, he'll turn it over to his horrible family, probably Ivanka, and install one of them in the position.
It isn't just the individual, it's the country, USA, that we better save. It isn't enough that one person is doing great, so let's keep Trump. So many other people are getting hurt.
It's possible that your relative is just jerking you. Tell him not to be afraid to vote Trump out. We'll all stick together and get through it.

(2,596 posts)The criticism that many "Christians" and probably many in other religions, but I have no experience to back that up, don't want to make the effort to find their own way in life is largely true. Authoritarian religious and political figures have a huge appeal to that group.
An example is found in one definition of leadership. You have high/low authoritarian/competency. I've compared it to the leaders in MASH (the series). Blake was high competency and low authoritarian. Someone told me once that didn't make him a bad leader as he wanted to have input and build consensus (made me feel better as he reflects my style). Potter was high authoritarian, but also high competency. Many would feel he was the ideal leader. But Burns and Flagg were low competence, and high authoritarian. Add a dash of narcissism/ and a pinch of charisma, and bam you have a Trump or the evangelical pastors who serve his interests.
It is actually very frightening that we live in a world were SO many would WILLINGLY submit to a madman. But I believe they feel absolved to true responsibility.

(6,546 posts)He and his parents are avid "trumpers". His Mom, my sister, threw me out of the family a couple of years ago because I didn't have "one good thing to say about the president (trump). They are beyond reasoning. Love my family, but done wasting my time trying to change their political views. I was happy that he wasn't posting pro-trump crap for about 6 months. Thought maybe he had come to his senses, but guess not!

(81,198 posts)Theyll probably take offense. And if they do, tough fucking shit. Dont like it? Then dont vote for heartless sadistic jerks who deliberately cause this kind of suffering in innocent non-combatants.
Or better yet, dont BE a heartless sadistic jerk who VOTES for other heartless sadistic jerks. SHAME ON YOU!
You are who you support.

(2,949 posts)Earlier this evening a young man of my acquaintance said to me. If it wasn't for religion i would vote Republican. You libtards make me angry with all your take care of everybody attitudes. He is an avid atheist. I let him vent his anger and eventually he calmed down. However i failed to explain to him us "libtards" are far more Christian in our behaviors than any of the Christian right. We do not approve of putting children in cages, we do not approve of pardons for military personal found guilty of killing innocent civilians. And many other actions being taken by the current republican controlled government. I failed to tell him this for fear he will understand it and vote republican.
