...because he has his nose so far up Trump's ass, he can't breathe anymore.
His garbled thoughts and attempts to rationalize Trump's criminality indicates that he has forgotten that he is supposed to be the nation's lawyer, not the lawyer for Donald Trump.
To listen to Barr, you would think Trump did nothing to be investigated for? The Russian interference in our elections seemed to not bother him at all.
It shows that he is incompetent and complicit in the crimes and cover-ups of Donald Trump. He, too, has earned an impeachment.

(8,200 posts)He is a stanch advocate of the Republican's determination to transform the presidency into a virtual authoritarianism. He has been a dedicated member of the Federalists who have worked diligently to achieve their goal of the what they claim is the proper interpretation to the Second Article that would transform the presidency into a virtual dictatorship.
This not some ridiculous charge but fully spelled out by their own charter. They have come up with the term called the Unitary Executive Theory. It totally negates the concept of the independent Executive, Legislative and Judicial system into making every department under the control of the presidency. In practice it would make the legislative branch little more than a rubber stamp committee that approves what ever the executive branch declares identical to the dictatorships of Russia and China. That is exactly why Trump has such admiration for every authoritarian government and such contempt for the our democratic principles and those who uphold them. The Son' of Liberty are now not those to be esteemed, but despised as obstructionists.

(5,056 posts)There is and will be even more reason to impeach him. The interview today he throws down the gauntlet.
At the highest levels of law enforcement, FACTS DO NOT MATTER. Who will stop him.

(24,401 posts)I mean, maybe not literal insanity, but he's clearly abusing his office IMHO by using the power of his office to pursue what are clearly inappropriate investigations ordered by the President (which is another mark on Trump as well). I guess it might be too vague to do much about Barr but I don't think it would be hard to say that he's not doing his job, nor acting in the best national interest.

(5,056 posts)He is only using Trump to assert his agenda. He know exactly what he is doing. We need to wake up and realize
he is far more dangerous than Trump. Trump is the way station to autocratic takeover of our Republic. That
is his plan and he isn't even subtle about it.
Do not underestimate him. He is very competent, dangerously so.

(11,726 posts)Like everyone else that Trump has actually selected to be in his cabinet, Barr was chosen specifically because he is crooked while somehow maintained a level of credibility in Washington. This says a lot about the culture there.
Barr was an adviser to GHW Bush and pushed him to pardon the offenders in the Iran-Contra Scandal. That scandal seems almost quaint given Trump's actions but it was huge and should be much much more visible in politics. It was worse than Watergate by far. The Reagan campaign spoke with Iran to have them delay the release of US hostages until after the election in exchange for the US selling missiles to Iran, who had been designated a state sponsor of terrorism. So, treason one selling arms to a hostile nation in exchange for political gain. Then the Reagan administration in defiance of laws specifically barring the funding of arms to Nicaraguan right wing death squads, funneled money from the Iran sales to the Contras. Barr was in the thick of it and closed the loop by pardoning North and other law breakers making it effectively impossible to continue pursing those crimes.
He should have NEVER been allowed anywhere near Washington again.
